Hi!
First, I'd like to say THANK YOU for keeping Vavoom alive It's been a few years since I last actually played any of the old ID games, but I recently got a new(ish) computer (upgrade from an old P2 to an AMD XP2100) and saw the announcement for the latest milestone release of Vav on happypenguin, so I thought I'd revisit those old games and see if they'd run on this box. Happy to say they do
I'd like to make a feature request however. I had to dig through the src to find out where vavoom's implementation of timidity is looking for it's timidity.cfg and the patch sound files. It would be very helpful if the timidity.cfg and midi patch file paths could be specified in either a configure option at compile time, or even better, in one of the vavoom cfg files.
I should also note, before getting the midis to work by recompiling with the right pathnames, I was getting a whole heck of a lot of crashes in Hexen at least (divide by zero error once, several segfaults), didn't test other games much..I'll be sure to come back with bug reports if I encounter any more crashes
Thanks again guys and keep up the good work and stuff
